Our brand-new library has opened its doors...
During the Autumn of 2024, the library received a huge makeover. Firstly, it moved to a much larger location and then it was totally transformed!
At Grendon we believe, as stated in our school vision, that the library will help give children the keys to unlock their future… and many adventures. This is because books and doors are the same thing; you can open them and go through into another world.
Our library is an amazing place for choosing a book and going on an adventure. It is frequently updated with new titles with books and authors representing our diverse community, as well as being well stocked with the children’s favourite authors.
The library is open before school three mornings a week. If you are interested in attending, ask Miss. Caro to check availability.
All of our KS1 children visit the library every week to take home a book to read for pleasure. All KS2 children visit the library during one of their Reciprocal Reading lessons and, they too, are able to take home a book.
The library is also used for whole class story times as well as a research space to support curriculum learning. Children can find books or use iPads to find out more about their area of study.
Watch the video below to see what this fantastic new space looks like...
Opening Hours
If you would like to visit the library on a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday, speak to Miss. Caro, who will give you an invite if there is space.
Doors open are between 08:10 and 08:20
Children can borrow up to two books from a wide selection of fiction and non-fiction books.
We also have a library quiz to win a book to keep, puzzles and designing bookmarks as well as looking for Wally from 'Where's Wally' who is always hiding in the library!
