World Book Day 2025

With news about the School Book Fair and a competition!
World Book Day
On Thursday 6th March we will be holding our World Book Day celebrations. Children can come to school on this day dressed like book characters.
During the day, the whole school will read two books in order to answer, “Which book teaches us the best life lesson?” The books we are reading are 'MIXED' by Aree Chung and 'THERE IS NO DRAGON IN THIS STORY' by Lou Carter and Deborah Allwright.
In order to do that, the children will consider the lesson the book is trying to teach, as well as thinking about the story, characters, author's choice of words and illustrations. Then children will use their communication skills to hold a debate before voting for their final choice. We will let you know what book and life lesson we have chosen.
Book Fair - Tuesday 25th February until Friday 28th February
We will be hosting a book fair. Last year’s book fair was incredibly successful and as a result we received over £1000 worth of books from Scholastics which went straight into the children’s classroom book boxes. We would love to be able to repeat that same success.
There will be hundreds of books available to buy starting from just £2.99. The books are a mixture of exciting new titles and classics that are suitable for a range of ages. We will be giving out World Book Day Tokens, worth £1, and they can be redeemed against any books over £2.99!
During the school day on Tuesday 25th February, all children will get a chance to visit the book fair to browse the selection of books available. The books will then be available to purchase between 3.10pm and 3.40pm Tuesday-Friday in the KS1 hall. Please drop in either before you collect your child or take your child with you after school.
The book fair will be cashless. Purchases will be made by scanning a QR code on your phone and following the instructions on the screen.
Book Voucher Competition
We are also launching a competition for five lucky winners to win a £5 voucher to be spent at the book fair. The competition ties in with our World Book Day plans. The children need to decide on their favourite book and create a poster about why it is such a good book and why we should read it. The poster can be handmade, made on the computer or in any other format that you wish. The five most persuasive posters will win.
Entries must be in by Friday 21st February so that the vouchers can be presented on Monday 24th February, ready to be spent at the book fair.
